4. Presidents Report:
a. Don presented the summer schedule shown as addendum B to
this report. If there are no enrollees in the Anti-Virus
program and if enrollment in the Internet and Email program does not grow there
is a possibility of
cancellation.
b. There is an ongoing need for both teachers and coaches.
Active recruiting is urged on the part of all existing board and all
SeniorNet members.
c. The Fall and Winter course
schedule has been submitted in Draft form. Issues revolving around the Martin Luther King holiday and
its impact on the schedule are being resolved before the schedule is finalized.
5. Coordinator Reports:
Curriculum
coordinator: Julia Fogel
Julia requested that course instructors be reminded to
have students fill out evaluation feedback forms which are located at the back of the room. Non-standard
evaluation forms are to be discontinued. Forms,
when completed by the students should be
returned to the cabinet shelves reserved for the specific course and will be picked up by Julia for compilation
and summaries.
Course
Cancellations for Spring:
Word Perfect and Quicken 2006 were cancelled for Spring due to low or no enrollment.

Tech/Webmaster
Report: Ed Glynn
a. IBM Grant: Five new computers
received from IBM will be installed shortly with the full complement of software used in our
courses. Ed solicited and recruited a few volunteers to help with the process.
b. Inkjet cartridges: Ed has found a source of new
inkjets for ~$16 per cartridge available over
the internet with free
shipping. Notify Ed when new cartridges are needed and the specific cartridge part
numbers required.
c. A new page will be placed on the website identifying
the advantages of volunteering at the
Course
Manuals:
a. George Fuller will be
replacing Bert as Manual coordinator and is currently working with Bert to
learn the process. The status of the
course Manuals is attached as Addendum C to this report.
Computer
Laboratory:
a. A total of 28 students attended the Friday 1:00-4:00
computer labs. Lack of staffing precluded having a Saturday Lab session
b. Summer Lab will again be on
Fridays from 1:00-4:00 pm and is currently staffed.
Volunteer
Coordinator: Tony Cobourn
a. Four new volunteers have been recruited. Two will help
Fred Wooten with the publicity activities
since Fred is now working full
time. One will coach.
b. We have a refreshed list of volunteers and we have 62
active members.
Badges/Disks
Coordinator:
a. Badges for all students in all the Summer
courses have been made up as well as floppy and
CDs with course materials on
them for all the Summer programs.
Publicity
Coordinator: Fred Wooten
a. A status report is appended to these minutes as
Addendum D along with results and required future actions and open issues.
Other issues discussed:
Future course
offerings and interface meetings with other local SeniorNet Centers.
A description of course
offerings from the Marcus SeniorNet center was well drafted but there appeared
to be a difference in course costs and in some cases durations. Course
collaboration does not appear to be viable at this time but we should consider
opening a dialog with their center coordinator to better understand their goals
and structure and any areas of commonality.
Multiple
offerings of high demand courses at
A discussion of whether to
offer day and evening sessions of Computer fundamentals seems to hinge on
availability of instructors and coaches. No decisions were made at this
executive session, however enrollment could be offered and the decision of
whether to conduct dual sessions would be determined by enrollment.
