Website: Ed Glynn/Don Hogan

Our Webmaster, Ed Glynn underwent surgery January 26 at North Fulton Hospital. The best wishes for a speedy and complete recovery from the entire SeniorNet team go to Ed and his family. Don Hogan will serve as the interim Webmaster during Ed’s illness.

Bert Emma: Technology status

Installation of new PC’s and monitors awarded from the IBM grant is complete.  Bert has been pivotal as are our other IBM retirees, in obtaining the yearly $7500 grant from IBM to the Roswell SeniorNet organization.

George Fuller: Course Manuals

Manuals for the winter courses are in the cabinets along with “sign out” sheets intended to reduce/eliminate unauthorized distribution.  Manual costs for 2006 were $2,884.89.

John Szedon: Computer Lab Report

Details of the number of students attending each lab session are included in the Executive Committee minutes Addendum. On average attendance was approximately 4 students per week.

Bob Nelson: Disks and Badges

All requirements have been met

Fred Wooten: Publicity

Fred reports that the publicity efforts could use some volunteers to improve the coverage of our brochures. Volunteers wishing to help the publicity efforts should contact Beth Korn. The good works of the Publicity Coordinator are reported in the Executive Committee minutes addenda.

Course Issues:

Quicken: It appears that the yearly license of the newest Quicken software will not be forthcoming from Intuit as it has in the past.  SeniorNet will offer Quicken in the Spring Session and will continue with using Quicken 2006 since the software changes between 2006 and 2007 appear largely cosmetic.

Other software Issues:

The availability of Vista, Vista Office Suite and Internet Explorer 7.0 will be studied by the Executive Committee regarding when the appropriate time will be for incorporation into our equipment and curricula. It is most normally appropriate to wait about 6-9 months after issuance of new software to allow bugs to be ironed out before purchase.  Additionally, hardware modifications will be required to most, if not all, of our current equipment to fully utilize the additional capabilities of Vista.

Volunteer Luncheon:

A luncheon to honor the Roswell Adult Recreation Center Volunteers will be held on February 7, 2007 between the hours of 12:30 and 2:30 pm. The luncheon will be catered by the Outback Steak House and volunteers are urged to sign up and select their entrée of choice.

Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 3:00 pm
