President’s report:
Don Hogan will function as the Interim Webmaster during the illness of Ed Glynn. All agenda and past minutes are posted on the Roswell SeniorNet Website.
The Ebay winter course has been cancelled due to the fact that the curriculum is out of date and needs to be revised, which should be completed by the Spring, (April), course offering.
Winter Staffing:
Teaching:
Julia Fogel
reported that she has established a “Team Teaching” approach for her Fundamentals and MS Works courses which
provide good continuity and provides some schedule
elasticity for the teachers. There is a
possibility of applying this principle to the Photoshop
course for which instructor recruiting has been difficult. Bert Emma, Don Hogan and
Curriculum Issues:
SeniorNet National has broken the Photoshop Elements course into two parts, Intermediate and Advanced. Discussion centered around our Photoshop course which will now be taught from a purchased Photoshop manual and whether we could offer a course which taught camera usage fundamentals since the interest seemed quite high. Some discussion centered about whether Stan clay, a Fee based private teacher was a possibility.
Other areas of popular interest were such courses as the use of Powerpoint, Advanced Excel and the use of search engines such a Google.

Technology:
A summary of the excellent efforts of the technology support team resulting in upgraded equipment and systems is attached as Addendum C to this report.
Course Offerings-
Quicken:
It appears that National SeniorNet will not be receiving a license from Intuit for Quicken 2007 as we have in prior years. That raises the issue of what will be taught for the Spring 2007 session. After scanning other options like possibly switching to Microsoft Money, it has been suggested that we continue teaching the Quicken 2006 course, recognizing that there have been no substantial improvements between the 2006 and 2007 course software, although the screen display has been cosmetically changed.
Photoshop Elements:
Manual Readiness:
George Fuller reported that the manuals are at the printer being printed.
Computer Lab Report:
Beth Korn reports that the number of SeniorNet volunteers currently stands at 82 including five new members. New volunteers are: Tom Bush, Scott Foust,
David Glodowski, Jerry Moore, Brian Perry and George Smith.
Class Course material,
Badges and Storage Media:
Bob Nelson reports that CD’s, floppy disks and enrollment name tags will be available well before classes begin on January 15, 2007. Gene Staton has purchased a number of Flash Drives at $4 apiece and is using these as the storage media for his classes.

Evaluations:
An issue was raised regarding the need for a degree of quality control relative to instructor teaching techniques for our SeniorNet courses. It was concluded that the course coordinators are ultimately responsible for both approval of potential new course instructors and the competence of the current instructors.

Minutes January 2, 2007 (continued)
Instructor Evaluations: (continued)
The Executive Committee discussed the virtues of constituting a group of course coordinators to monitor instructor techniques and provide feedback to the Exec Committee. This process, while sensitive, needs to establish a list of good teaching practices from which objective evaluations can be made.
Volunteer Luncheon:
A volunteer luncheon will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2007. The luncheon will be catered by the Outback Steak House.
Installation of
Officers for 2007:
The work of the nomination committee was facilitated by the agreement of the 2006 officers to stand for another year. Therefore, the installation of the Roswell SeniorNet officers for the 2007 term was voted by acclamation of the Executive Committee members.
